Teen Safe Night Held at Lewis County Middle School

Teen Safe Night Held at Lewis County Middle School
Teen Safe Night (TSN) was held on Friday, February 27, 2026, for 7th and 8th grade students. The event was organized through a partnership between the Family Resource Center, Coordinated School Health, the Youth/Tobacco Subcommittee, Hope Hohenwald, and Jason and Christian Shadix.
Teen Safe Night is designed to help students better understand the importance of making safe and healthy choices as they grow into young adults. Throughout the evening, students participated in several educational sessions focused on real-life topics that can impact their future.
Sgt. David Hannah with the Tennessee Highway Patrol spoke with students about the dangers of alcohol and impaired driving, helping them understand the serious consequences that can come from poor decisions. Officers from the Hohenwald Police Department discussed the dangers of drug use and the impact drugs can have on individuals, families, and communities.
Students also learned about building healthy relationships during a session led by Thomas and Amy Moon, who talked about respect, communication, and making positive choices in friendships and dating.
One of the highlights of the evening was the interactive “Life Maze,” led by Heather Hinson, Health Educator with the Lewis County Health Department. With the help of several volunteers, students navigated a maze where they were given stickers representing different life choices. As they moved through the maze, students could see how those choices might affect the path their lives could take.
A total of 38 students attended the event.
We appreciate all of our amazing volunteers that made this possible!
